In Memory of our Dear Friend Ed Leahy
Ed Leahy - Rest in Peace our Dear Friend - April 18 2024

Edward Franklin Leahy Jr., 71, of Southington, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on February 6, 1953 to the late Edward and Mary (Maguire) Leahy Sr.

 

Ed was educated in Massachusetts schools graduating from Hull School and was initially trained as an Electrician and was a Union Member of Local IBEW Local 103 in Boston. He had an amazing career with WR Grace in a multitude of high level executive roles within the United States and Asia, and retired as the project manager with Baker Liturgical Art, LLC. Ed was a brilliant mind who was always thinking. He could be found tinkering around the house in various improvement projects, enjoying the art of photography, and engulfing himself in the history of all things. He loved Fishing and was known to his 6 brothers as “The Spirit Fisherman”.

 

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Eileen (Ahlstedt) Leahy; his son Edward Leahy III; his son Patrick Leahy; and his daughter Sarah Leahy; his brother and sister in law Robert Leahy (Lourdes), his brother and sister in law Paul Leahy (Rose), his brother and sister in law Mark Leahy (Alicia), his brother and sister in law Peter Leahy (Kristine), his brother and sister in law Timothy Leahy (Maria) and his brother and sister in law Thomas Leahy (Barbara) and lastly his unofficial brother Brian Baker.

 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sally Leahy.

 

The Leahy Family would like to thank Ed’s Medical Practitioner of 25 years – Dr. Craig Bogdanski who took excellent care of him through the years and his two wonderful Hospice Nurses John and Heidi from AccentCare.

 

A Celebration of Ed’s Life will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 beginning at 1pm at his home, 83 Hamilton Ave, Southington. All are welcome to attend.
